Honest Assessment First

Is Worktop Wrapping Right for Your Kitchen?

Worktop wrapping is a genuine alternative to replacement on the right surface. When conditions are good, it can deliver a striking finish for considerably less than fitting a new worktop. But it isn't right for every kitchen, and we won't tell you it is just to win the work.

The honest answer depends on six things. Send us photos and we'll assess each one before giving you any kind of quote.

What affects worktop wrapping suitability:

1

Surface condition

Swollen edges, water damage, delamination or a surface that's no longer flat will affect adhesion and longevity.

2

Edge profile

Square and bullnose edges work well. Heavily routed post-form or bevelled edges require more careful assessment.

3

Number of joins

Worktops with multiple joins, corner mitre joints or difficult cut-outs require careful sealing and may not be suitable.

4

Water & moisture exposure

Areas immediately around sinks and regularly submerged surfaces need careful consideration. Prolonged standing water is a risk factor.

5

Heat exposure

Architectural vinyl is not heatproof. Trivets and heat mats are essential. Surfaces next to hobs without adequate protection may not be suitable.

6

How the worktop is used

A heavy-use family kitchen with frequent direct cutting, heavy pots and high moisture is a different proposition to a lightly used worktop.

Realistic Expectations

We want you to be happy with the result, which means being clear about what wrapping can and can't do before you commit.

  • Can dramatically change the look and colour of a worktop
  • Applied by a professional with correct preparation
  • Moisture resistant — not fully waterproof
  • Not heatproof — trivets are essential
  • Not a permanent structural fix — it's a surface finish
  • Won't repair or conceal damaged substrate beneath

Often best done alongside a full kitchen wrap

Worktop wrapping is most effective when the doors and drawers are also wrapped in a matching or complementary finish. A mismatched kitchen can look unfinished. We can quote both together.

How It Works

The Worktop Wrapping Quote Process

Because suitability matters, there's one extra step compared to a standard kitchen wrap quote.

1

Send Photos

Send photos of the worktop — edges, joins, around the sink, any damaged areas. The more detail the better.

2

Suitability Assessment

We review the photos and give you an honest initial assessment of whether wrapping is likely to be appropriate — within one working day.

3

Measure-Up Visit

If photos look promising, we visit to inspect the surface in person, measure up and confirm suitability before giving a firm price.

4

Fitting Day

We prep the surface carefully, apply the film professionally and leave you with clear care instructions for the new finish.

Common Questions

Worktop Wrapping FAQs

Can all kitchen worktops be wrapped?
No — worktop wrapping is not suitable for every surface. Suitability depends on the existing surface condition, edge profile, number of joins, water and heat exposure and how the worktop is used day to day. Stone, granite, solid wood and Corian worktops are not suitable. We always assess before quoting and give honest guidance.
Is worktop wrapping waterproof?
The films we use have good moisture resistance, but they are not fully waterproof. Prolonged standing water, poorly sealed joins and water infiltration around sinks can affect the film over time. We'll give you honest guidance on what to expect before we start, and we'll make sure joins are sealed correctly during application.
Is worktop wrapping heatproof?
No. Architectural vinyl films are not designed to withstand direct heat. Placing hot pans or oven trays directly onto a wrapped worktop can permanently damage the film. Trivets and heat mats must be used. If your kitchen sees very heavy heat exposure — for example directly beside an open hob — we'll discuss whether wrapping is appropriate.
How long does worktop wrapping last?
On a suitable, properly prepared surface that's correctly maintained — avoiding standing water, using trivets, wiping up spills quickly — a worktop wrap can last several years. Lifespan varies based on surface condition, finish choice and how the kitchen is used. We'll give you realistic guidance before you commit.
Can you wrap around sinks and hobs?
We can work around integrated sinks and hobs, but cut-outs, joins and seals in wet areas require careful assessment. Whether this is appropriate depends on the specific layout, the condition of the existing seals and the type of sink. We'll assess this as part of the suitability check.
How do I check if my worktop is suitable?
The easiest way is to send us photos — of the worktop surface, the edges, any joins, around the sink and any damaged or worn areas. We'll give you an honest initial assessment. Use the quote form or send directly via WhatsApp.
